Global Digital Radio Broadcasting Update 2012 released

London, 3 September 2012

WorldDMB has just released its latest publication of the Global Digital Radio Broadcasting Update 2012. This report provides detailed analysis of the continued global growth of the DAB family of standards as well as information on future receiver technology trends for in the home, on the move and in car. Used as a point of reference by the international radio industry, the publication highlights the following key findings:

Growth remains strong in Europe and Asia Pacific with global population coverage of the standards at over half a billion people

Digital radio now comes as standard or as an option in almost all leading consumer electronic receiver brands

The major automotive manufacturers offer DAB/ DAB+ digital radio line fitted or as optional and the market now sees numerous in-car digital radio adapters serving the aftermarket

New countries that have launched or accelerated rollout of DAB/DAB+ digital radio in the last year include Australia, Belgium (French speaking), Germany, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom

The release of the Global Digital Radio Broadcasting Update 2012 coincides with key upcoming industry events where the publication will meet the demand for information on digital radio such as IFA 2012, the largest consumer electronics fair in Europe. During this fair, where digital radio is high on the agenda, WorldDMB alongside the German Projektbüro Digitalradio will showcase progress on digital radio rollout in Germany to key radio industry decision makers from established and emerging digital radio markets. The occasion will enable experts to review progress on the roll out of the DAB family of standards and enable an exchange of ideas around best practice and policy.
